Chand Raat is also known as the ‘Night of Moon’. The day before Eid and day of last Ramzan is known as Chand Raat. After the Azaan of Magrib people usually go on their rooftops and spot the moon. If the moon is sighted then people hug and greet each other. There is a joyful atmosphere all around. People decorate their houses and streets. And houses and streets give a festive look. Malls are decorated as well and people turn towards mall for Eid shopping. Young girls and women clasp Mehndi on their hands. Sweet dishes like Kheer, Sawaiyan etc. are prepared for the next day of Eid.
The people sitting in Aitakaf leave their Aitakaf places and their relatives and friends come to meet them with flowers and sweets. There is an atmosphere of happiness and joy and a smile on every face.
