STAPU, a game of Punjab played by Girls


Stapu is well known game of Punjab, That is played by girls. This is a commonly played game in rural areas and frequently played in urban areas as well. This is popular and famous among the young girls of village. It is a very simple game and cost nothing more than a piece of chalk and a stone. The chalk is used to make the playing court and the stone is actually the playing object. The court has no fixed size it depends on the participants wish. That stone is thrown in the court and then the participant jumps on one foot and brings back that stone. Usually during day time in villages, we can see many young girls playing Stapu. It is the most favorite time pass activity of the young teenage girls.
Stapu is also know as ‘Picho’ , Chindro and Hopscotch.
